A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident can sponsor his or her close family members which can include spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, parent, grand parents, adopted children, minor brother or sister to immigrate to Canada under the Family class.

A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident status holder must be eligible, should not have been barred to be a sponsor, and should undertake obligations to qualify as a sponsor under the family class.
